Introduction

Pekka Saarinen's Photoshop action, LinearSharpen 3.42, has many supporters (including me). It produces excellent, crisp, sharp images from D30 linear conversions. As part of my struggle to get to grips with Photoshop scripting, I decided to see what I could do with LS342. I became side-tracked when I decided to restructure the action according to the method outlined in my article, A Workflow Menu for Photoshop.

This action set, LinearSharpenMenu (LSM), provides a convenient method for specifying options for processing linear files. It is structured so that a single image or a batch of images can be easily processed with the same settings. Custom processes can be added. I shall explain how this can be done in a future update. Using LS342. I often came across images that might have improved with a touch more sharpening, so I have added some additional sharpening levels to Pekka's original four (using the same principles). However, the core of LS342 is the same.

I'm using this in my everyday workflow. I hope that you find it equally useful.

Using LinearSharpenMenu

Once LSM is installed, you use the system by making menu selections from the various sections.

Make your selection by putting a check mark against the left-most column,
"Toggle Item On/Off"

Running one of these actions will display version information and some simplified instructions.
Process single image: When you have specified your processing options, select and run the Go action.
