The battery in the camera ran out before I could take a shot today. Guess what? Assuming the same amount of juice was left in the one I pulled for recharging, I got exactly 500 shots. Should I get another battery? confused Just after lunch, I got an e-mail from Craig (a pro photog cyber-chum) who drew my attention to the current deal at 7dayshop.com who're offering BP-511 look-alikes for GBP 14.79 (ed: even cheaper today 7 August 2009) with free delivery. Spooky coincidence, or what? smile At that price, it was impossible to say no, so two batteries are on their way.

I found out how to reset the focus points: press the button at the top, right-hand corner on the back (with the little picture of the AF points like a cross and the magnifying glass) and twiddle the top wheel — ain't learning a wonderful thing.

I use Downloader to copy my image files from the microdrive. I have it set to delete images after a successful transfer. Usually (but not always) I reformat the MD in the camera, I noticed today that the camera reported 160kb used on the MD before the format operation and only 64kb after. Not sure whether that difference is significant, but I shall endeavour to be more conscientious about an in-camera reformat in future.

Charlie, our resident vixen, came visiting today. She hasn't been around much recently, I guess because she's been whelping (if that's what foxes do smile). She's certainly looking rundown. I took a bunch of shots: I'm still not convinced about the focus on this damn camera, angry but it could be me. I'll wait a while longer before making a final decision. Anyway here a picture that's not too bad (mild bad taste advisory).

Update: Sorry to anyone not getting the right picture on the previous link. It's fixed now — if you really want to see it. But here's a much cuter one of my cat, Oliver — (taken four frames earlier, maybe the camera is working OK).
