A while back I wrote an article describing my workflow with the tools I used for the Canon EOS D30 at the time. My camera has changed and so have the tools, so I've decided to prepare a new article, My requirements haven't really changed that much. This is what I write in the earlier article:
"I need a process that let's me create images for display in my web gallery, store in local 'albums' to show friends, print a few select pictures, archive original files."
More of my images end up in my web galleries than anywhere else, so I'll use that process as the focus for my description.
There is very little need to tether the 10D to the PC. It was necessary with the D30 to change parameters, set the correct date and time, but, with the 10D, that can be done using the in-camera menus. So it's out of the camera with the microdrive and into the card reader.
I have upgraded to Breeze Systems new Downloader Pro 1.0. This seems to be every bit as reliable and even more useful than Downloader (no longer available). One of the biggest changes in DL Pro is the increased flexibility for naming target folders and renaming image files. Here is the File>Preferences>Download Path screen (click image for enlarged view). You can see how camera and image specific tokens can be used within folder and image names.
I upload images to the PC, as you can see, into folders for individual days. For archiving I collapse these into months with an occasional "special event".
For me the biggest change with DL Pro is renaming files as they are copied to the PC. Previously, this would have been a separate step using BreezeBrowser, so that’s a nice efficiency improvement.

Working with Capture One DSLR LE
Capture One Colour Management
To set up your CM preferences, open the window at Workflow>Color Management Settings.
Camera Product: When you have an image selected, C1LE will show "Canon EOS-10D". You do not need to set this manually.
Camera Profile: This should be set to your preferred 10D profile. The supplied profile is called "Canon EOS-10D Generic", but there are alternatives. The ones from Etcetera costs USD 20. They are what I have started to use.
The "show only Capture One profiles" must be unchecked, if you want to select a non-C1 profile.
Output Destination (Working Space): This should be set to your working space in Photoshop. I use the ProPhoto RGB working space.
Web Destination: Usually this would be sRGB.
Proof Destination: Unless you convert directly to print files, this doesn't really matter. I've never converted to a print-ready file, but it could be quick way to get a proof.
Monitor Profile: If you have an Adobe Gamma profile, this should be auto-selected here, but you can set it manually, if necessary. The profile shown was created using WiziWYG from Praxisoft, which is free, if you just use it to create a monitor profile. Norman Koren seems to approve of WiziWYG, but suggests modified instructions for monitor calibration.
