Configuration

Here's a screen shot of how I set up Downloader:

Key points to note are:
• Files are made read-only to reduce chance of accidental deletion
• Most of the time of use a card reader - much quicker than downloading from the camera; no fiddling with that stupid rubber cover and the camera not on the desk waiting for a stray elbow to knock it on the floor.
• I have a separate folder into which all images are placed.
• I create separate folders for each day's shooting. This makes it easier when converting and editing.
• Make sure the EXIF date is used for folder names.

I have also set up Downloader to use automation. It saves time to use automation.

• I check the prompt box so that I can abort the automation, for example, if I am being ultra-cautious and do not want to delete the image files immediately.
• I have never had a problem (touch wood smile) with files being lost because they did not transfer correctly. On the other hand, I did have some confusion with the same images being downloaded twice because the files were renamed in BreezeBrowser.
• The custom button launches BreezeBrowser.
• I rarely have more than my 1 gig MD to download, so I have Downloader close once the automation sequence is complete.

Use

It saves time to use automation. On my Win XP PC, I insert the CF into the reader and start Downloader. This recognises there is a card with images and offers to start the automation sequence with a reminder about what steps have been selected:

So we set Downloader off and let it do its thing:
