In late spring 2007, we visited Hangzhou, China, which has many sites and attractions. I'll add new albums to this Flash presentation over time.
- Album 1 Fei Lai Feng
The Peak Flown From Afar was so christened because it is unlike any other the others in the area. The legend is that a visiting Indian monk gave the name because Fei Lai Feng reminded him of craggy mountains back home. Apart from this, what makes the montain fascinating is the 300+ buddhist statues that are carved out of the limestone. I have converted the images to B&W.
- Album 2 Lingyin Temple
Lingyin Temple is in the same protected area as Fei Lai Feng. The first slide in the album gives a brief history of the temple.
- Album 3 The West Lake
The lake is one of the main attractions of Hangzhou. Ours was only a short visit and the the weather was, for the most part, very overcast and misty. These few images give a small taste of Xi Hu.
- Album 4 Fenqi Street
Fenqi Street has been preserved as a traditional chinese shopping street. The impact is somewhat reduced by the McDonald's at the far end of the street.
