This sequence was taken on 7 Aug '01 when I was on a cruise in the Inside Passage from Vancouver to Alaska. The highlight came when our ship sailed into Yakutat Bay and stationed about half a mile from the Hubbard Glacier. The ship maintained position for about two hours. If I had thought about it, I would have expected silence, but, in fact, there is a constant rumbling, almost like thunder, as the ice in the glacier cracked, split and calved. It was a truly magical experience!

All images were taken with a Canon EOS D30 using a 75-300mm lens with image stabilisation. I was extremely pleased to capture this sequence of seven images before the D30 buffer filled, but I really wish that I had already purchased the 100-400mm L lens -  such is life.
