The magnolia in our garden keeps producing blooms, unfortunately, only one at a time. The flowers don't last long - I keep going to look at the tree only to discover another has come and gone. The first seven images in this selection were taken using the EF70-200 LIS with the 500D close-up lens, It was impossible to get both the flower and the honey bees, flying in and out to collect pollen, in focus - the DOF is just too small - but I rather like the resulting effect. There are a couple of "creative" variations thrown in: one using Flaming Pear's Mr Contrast filter, and the other nik Multimedia's B&W conversion filter. Roger Cavanagh |
