
These conversions are the same ones that appeared in earlier versions of B+W Variations, we decided that, for consistency, this treatment pack should be unchanged. The conversions are based, as the name implies on adjustments to the Channel Mixer.

One disadvantage of this conversions method is that it is not possible to keep any existing layers in the document. Checking "Keep Layers" will save the conversion as a separate layer, but not - as with other methods - any other layers.

While it would be foolish to claim that our conversions are entirely accurate emulations, the choice of names is not totally whimsical. We have used the manufacturers' own data about the spectral sensitivity of the different films to adjust settings of the various Photoshop tools employed in this technique to simulate sensitivity to different colours. We have no easy way to test the accuracy of these simulations and we make no guarantees about their accuracy.
The different choices do all give a different result. One of the sample images used during development of the script was a profile chart containing over 750 colour patches. We compared the output for each of the 32 conversions to the other 31 and they are all different.
